Every Friday, I have the pleasure of sharing a snippet or two from my reading adventures—whether it’s from a book I’m currently diving into, a future pick waiting on my shelf, or a delightful surprise from my library. I’ll link this post to The Friday 56 meme, hosted by My Head Full of Books.
Today, I want to share a brief overview of Bronc: Brand of the Damned by Jeffrey M. Wallmann, published by Leisure in 1981. The Western genre faced challenges in the 1970s, but the release of the first Slocum “Adult Western” revitalized it. Shortly afterward, many publishers jumped on the bandwagon, producing their own lines of “Adult Westerns.” The main distinction between classic Westerns and these newer versions lies in the inclusion of sexual content, often featuring the hero becoming involved with one or more saloon girls. Depending on the author, these scenes can range from mild to quite graphic.
I recently came across Bronc: Brand of the Damned at a flea market. It’s labeled as the first book in the "Bronc" series, but to the best of my knowledge, only this single installment was ever published. I would love to know the backstory behind this if anyone has the information. Also, please feel free to correct me if I’m mistaken. In any case, I haven’t had the chance to read Bronc: Brand of the Damned yet, but it’s definitely on my list!
"Is that so awful, if it brings a killer to justice?" She eased still nearer, intimacy creeping into her voice. "And I'd be very grateful, personally very grateful," she coaxed, touching his arm, the proper woman of a moment before fading as her red mouth curved in a bewitching smile. "I might be persuaded to raise my price, even change it to something you might like better . . ."
